Benjamin Heyman
Growing up in Port Washington, Long Island, Benjamin had a quintessential Jewish-American upbringing, including religious study, as well attending a Jewish summer camp, Camp Modin in Maine, the same his father attended in the 30’s and 40’s.
He went on to study photography and design at Rochester Institute of Technology after which he then spent 20 years working alongside his family at Oscar Heyman & Brothers, a renowned fine jewelry atelier in NYC. He became a master craftsman, designer, eventually managing 65 craftsmen specializing in classical platinum and gold gemstone style.

Since moving to the Berkshires in 2002, his artistic and creative pursuits had him working professionally in the theater arts as a sound and set designer
He found an artistic home for seven years managing Concepts of Art, a fine Judaic Gallery in Lenox, while reconnecting with his conservative Jewish roots. The gallery featured his increasingly popular—and affordable—Jewish cultural pop art now found in galleries in Boston and New York City.

His artwork reflects a cheerful cultural humor unique to the Jewish American experience. The metaphor is evident in “Spritz”, “Seltzer”, and “Egg Cream”:
Effervescent!
